AUCTION GUIDELINES

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Colyer Herefords Internet Heifer Auction.
We have tried our best to create a logical and easy to use online auction facility. Please read the following instructions and if you have any trouble or any questions, please give us a call 208-845-2313, email scolyer@mindspring.com or email directly to the auction administrators at design@thecattle.net.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
In order to gain access to the auction "ring" online, we ask that you pre-register as a bidder using the form we've provided at our website. You will be added to the system within 24 hours. If you have an email address, you will receive a notice that you are able to access the auction. If you do not have an email address - you will be contacted by telephone.

USER lowercase!
When logging into the auction, remember that user names will always be in lowercase letters. Mixed or upper case will not be accepted (eg. "Bid" is wrong, "bid" is correct).

HOW THE AUCTION WORKS...
(1) Basically, once you login to the auction, you will see a web page that is unique only to you. There will be a list containing the auction lots, their descriptions, the current high bid, time remaining, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons. This page will react to your bids and let you know when you are the current high bidder. No one else will be able to see your bids nor your activity as a bidder. Each time you login, the page will recognize you and show you if you are in or out on any of the lots and remember your proxy bids.

(2) Click on the BID button pertaining to the lot that interests you. The bid button indicates what the next bid needs to be in order to get "IN". Bidding has been set at $100 increments. In the instance where two bidders bid "simultaneously", the first bid that reaches the internet auction computer will be given the amount - the second one will be asked to bid the next available amount.

Bidder confidentiality is important to us, and as such, we do not have any access to your proxy or manually bidding activity. Your privacy is guaranteed. We at Colyer Herefords, nor any other participant, will know who is bidding on any of the lots during the auction. We will only be notified of those who were successful bidders once the auction closes.

2003 AUCTION DATES AND TIMES
The auction has been set to run from 9:00 a.m. MDT on July 25th with the first lot expiring at 6:00 p.m. MDT on Thursday, July 31. The lots will expire 10 minutes apart successively until all 20 lots have expired. At that time we will contact the successful bidders regarding payment and delivery. See Terms & Conditions.

RESERVE PRICES
Although all of these heifers are on offer with the full intent to sell, we do reserve the right to protect our interest by placing a bottom limit price on them as necessary. Although this amount is concealed, if a lot has not reached the limit price at the completion of the bidding, the lot will not sell. If the current high bidder has exceeded the reserve price, he/she will be notified of their successful purchase upon completion of the bidding.

WHAT IS A PROXY BID?
A bid by proxy refers to a method of bidding on a lot without having to submit each bid manually. By setting your high limit (proxy) amount, the system will bid for you, only enough to keep you "IN" as the high bid.

The proxy amount is protected, secure and visible to no one.

Should someone else bid higher than your set proxy amount, you will then be "OUT" of the bidding action and must re-set a higher proxy amount or bid manually in order to get back "IN".
